Abdominal Scar Treatment and Rehabilitation

The Abdominal Scar Treatment and Rehabilitation consultation is specifically designed to help women who have birthed via c-section, experienced a hysterectomy or other female surgeries (organ removals, keyhole surgery, cancers) that leaves abdominal scarring.

As your body heals, scar tissue is laid down at each of these layers. Internal and external scarring can interrupt the ability for the body’s tissues to move freely with and around each other. Adhesions, or ‘sticky bits’ can form between these layers, causing them to become a little stuck together. This ‘stickiness’ can lead to painful movement, poor bladder and pelvic health, digestive issues, reduced sensation, and, it can also negatively impact the physical appearance of your abdominal area.

This treatment is for you if you experience any of the following:

  • Achiness, pain, numbness, tingling or sensitivity at or around the scar

  • A scar that feels stuck, lumpy, thick, indented or bumpy to the touch

  • Discomfort or pain when clothes rub against the scar

  • Pain/discomfort at the scar during certain times of your cycle or during intercourse, or pelvic floor issues

  • An overhang that just won’t seem to go away

  • Stretching pain or pulling around the scar with movement

  • If you have trouble recruiting abdominal muscles in exercise/lack core connection, no matter how much core work you do

  • Persistent lower back, hip pelvic or sacral pain

  • Limited range of motion or stiffness in the lower abdomen or pelvis

If your wound/scar is completely healed (at least 8 weeks post-partum), this treatment can be effective whether you are recently post-partum or many years post-partum. Book an appointment online with Alison today!
